Canadian Studies Conference at MSU Law

Canadian and American flagsThe Midwest Association for Canadian Studies (MWACS) will be hosting a conference at Michigan State University College of Law on November 13-15, 2014. The interdisciplinary conference’s theme is “Common Problems, Working Solutions Across Borders,” and participants will discuss how to direct resources and expertise toward solving global problems.

Presenters will discuss: 

  • History, arts, and cultural exchanges and preservation
  • Water quality and the ‘blue economy’
  • Curriculum trends for teaching about Canada
  • Trade security, transportation infrastructure, and tourism
  • Shared agricultural interests
  • Energy supply and sustainability
  • Today’s society of indigenous people

MSU Law Professor John Reifenberg serves as the president of MWACS and teaches extensively on Canadian and international law.
